Who are we?

Fjør Studios® is an independent fashion brand from Norway specializing in leather jackets and fashion accessories made through a fair and ethical production process.

Established in 2013

The brand was established as a bag brand in Trondheim 2013 by Marita Hegertun Hamran – an award-winning clothing designer and fashion designer with 15 years of experience from the Norwegian and international fashion industry. Today, Fjør Studios is synonymous with designer bags, contemporary fashion clothes and a selection for hand knitting – all made through a slower production process to become quality products meant to last.

“Feathers”

The brand name Fjør comes from the Trønder dialect word “flo & fjøre” and alludes to Norwegian nature and coastal culture. The name originates from the 100-year-old country estate Fjørheim, located in the heart of the Trondheim Fjord, belonging to Marita’s family since 1917.

Sustainability and craftsmanship

Fjør Studios was created out of a strong desire to focus on craft techniques as well as to calm down the traditional production cycle for fashion clothing, in order to provide workers in the industry with better working conditions. Social justice is at the heart of the company, along with the desire to raise respect for creative craftsmen who make our fashion products. The vision is to be able to influence the fashion industry towards a more sustainable future.

Production at a family-owned factory

The main production is based in India at certified, family-owned factories. All product development takes place in our studio in Trondheim.

International recognition

In 2021, British VOGUE proclaimed Fjør Studios® a “newcomer worth keeping an eye on”.
